New State By-Law
State has passed a new by-law stating “During the PTA year, at least one member of the executive committee must attend PTA & the Law, and all elected executive committee members must attend at least one training which could include, but not be limited to, WSPTA Spring or Fall Region Conference, PTA & the Law, WSPTA Convention, WSPTA Leadership Conference, or WSPTA Legislative Assembly, WSPTA Emerging Leaders Conference, or onsite training provided by a region service delivery team member. Convention training counts towards the next year’s executive committee members’ training for the next year’s requirements. [Editorial Note: This means that training received at the WSPTA Convention shall be counted toward the training requirement for the PTA year following the Convention.]”. Local units not completing required training will not be in good standing 2012-2013 and will not receive publications, cannot attend Leadership Conference, cannot participate in Reflections Program and cannot get insurance for their unit through AIM.
Federal Way PTSA Council's new policy for training fits right in with the new state by-law. Local units can get reimbursed for PTA & the Law and the Fall Leadership Conference if they request funds from the Council Treasurer within 30 days after attending the event. Council will not be responsible for any late fees incurred by the local units.

FWPTSA Council Meeting
Federal Way PTSA Council’s next General Membership meeting will be held on May 8, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the new ESC Building which is located at 33330 8th Ave. South in Room 117. (The new ESC is located across the street from City Hall).

2012 Washington State PTA Convention
The 99th Washington State PTA Convention is fast approaching. It will be held May 4, 5 & 6, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel-Seattle Airport, SeaTac, WA. There will be three days filled with learning,
networking and fun. If you have never attended in the past then you must give it a try. It is an amazing experience. You will quickly see that there is always more to learn, more people to meet and more fun times than you can imagine. This will be the last year that the convention will be at the Doubletree. Next year we will move on to Bellevue for our 100th celebration. For more information go to www.wastatepta.org

We are pleased to announce our new Photo Page coming soon to our website. But we need your help. We want to know what you are doing out there. Please send us photos of your Board of Directors, your PTA meetings, your members at trainings, or your PTA events. Please make sure you let us know which PTA the photos are coming from and if there are any minors in the photographs we need release forms from the parents. Release forms for any adults in the pictures are not necessary. Photos can be emailed to your PTA Council Vice President (if you do not know who this is check out our Directory Page).
